On Sept. 29, 2007, I was attacked in our home. the criminal case resulting has finally been settled, so Van and I can publicly express our sincere appreciation to the many people who have helped us get through some very difficult times.

Good neighbors took us in and called the authorities and the hospital. Southwest Memorial EMTs and emergency medical personnel cared for my injuries. Three police forces responded to the call. At least two officers dropped through a small access hole into the crawl space to confront a possibly armed man.

Victim's Assistance ladies have been with us from the hospital to this day. The Colorado Farm Bureau Insurance Agency made sure Van and I did not have to worry about costs.

The best people in the world have comforted and cared for us. Neighbors and friends with food, cards from parents and students, prayers in church, hands extended from eh community in friendship and concern.

The best friends in the world. From hospital, to motel, to coffee, to chocolate, to courtroom, to pomegranate martinis. Holding our hands, buying us underwear, feeding us, listening to us, worrying over us and always making sure we knew you were there and ready. We are awed by the gifts of your hearts and spirits.

Van and I have been truly blessed.
